    Candidate joins a video call with Lumi

    A secure link is sent with the shortlist. Candidates join on their own schedule, no recruiter coordination. Standard webcam and mic. Lumi hosts the call.

    Live adaptive conversation

    Lumi opens with five role-specific questions drawn from the candidate's CV, then adapts in real time. When an answer needs probing, Lumi probes. 15 to 20 minutes. Nothing scripted, nothing rehearsed.

    Visual and verbal analysis happens simultaneously

    As the candidate speaks, Lumi scores fluency, specificity, and composure on the verbal side. On the visual side it watches for integrity signals: off-screen glances, inconsistent audio, timing patterns that suggest reading from another source.

Fluency and specificity

How a candidate actually talks about the work they claim they've done. Genuine experience has texture, concrete examples, and self-awareness about mistakes. AI-polished CVs don't survive two follow-ups at that level of depth.

Consistency with the CV

Lumi's follow-ups target the specifics behind every claim. CV says 'led a team of 15'. The follow-up asks who the hardest team member was and how that was handled. Embellishment becomes visible fast.

Integrity signals, visual and audio

Repeated off-screen glances when questions arrive. A second voice audible in the background. Timing patterns that suggest the candidate is reading an answer rather than thinking of one. Each flag is logged with a timestamp for human review. Never auto-rejects.

Composure under questioning

How a candidate handles a follow-up they didn't expect matters for customer-facing, safeguarding, and senior roles. Lumi measures it consistently across every candidate, without the variability of a different interviewer on different days.

01 Isn't this just another AI interview tool like HireVue?

No. HireVue and similar tools are one-way recordings. Candidates answer pre-set questions into a camera with no feedback loop. The Enhanced Assessment is a live video call with Lumi. The AI speaks, listens, watches, and adapts its follow-ups in real time based on what the candidate just said or how they responded. It's a conversation, not a tape.

02 How long does a candidate spend on it?

15–20 minutes. Candidates join on their own schedule once shortlisted. No recruiter has to be on the call, no diary coordination, no travel. Just the candidate, their webcam, and Lumi.

03 What stops a candidate from having someone else do it for them, or reading scripted answers?

Live video is the answer. Lumi watches for repeated off-screen glances when questions arrive, timing patterns consistent with reading rather than thinking, audio inconsistencies that suggest a second person in the room, and voice patterns that change between the candidate who joined and whoever is answering. Each concern is flagged with a timestamp for a human recruiter to review. Nothing is auto-rejected.

04 Does this replace the final interview?

No. The Enhanced Assessment is a pre-interview screening layer. It replaces the phone screen, not the decision-making interview. The hiring team still meets the final shortlist. But they arrive at that meeting with a defensible, evidence-backed case for every candidate on it.

05 Can a candidate's score move during the call?

Yes. It moves constantly. Strong follow-up answers add to it. Vague or inconsistent ones subtract from it. The score at the end reflects how the candidate actually performed in conversation, not just what their CV claimed before they joined the call.

06 What about candidates with anxiety, neurodivergence, or who are nervous on camera?

We designed for this from day one. The assessment doesn't score generic 'nervousness', fidgeting, eye contact style, or other signals that correlate with neurodivergence or anxiety. It only scores what matters for the role: the content and depth of answers, the consistency with the CV, and clear integrity issues like a second voice or someone reading from another screen. Every candidate gets the same rubric.

07 Is this compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and EU AI Act?

Yes. Bias detection runs continuously across every question, score, and flag. Candidates are told clearly that AI is conducting the screening (which the EU AI Act requires for high-risk hiring systems). The complete assessment, including the video and all integrity flags, is stored for the required period and is fully exportable as an audit record.
